After graduating in 2006 she won a paid internship at Southern Progress Corporation in Birmingham.
"I feel that my time spent at the UGA Press was instrumental in my being accepted for an internship at Southern Progress Corporation in the Oxmoor House books division. The SPC internship program was brought to my attention by my supervisor at UGA Press, and his letter of recommendation and willingness to make phone calls and write emails on my behalf certainly gave me a leg up among fellow applicants. The quality of my assigned projects and responsibilities made for an impressive résumé, especially as a recent college graduate, and I view the Press and its staff as invaluable in this first step of my career." Emily Richardson held our Georgia Power / Grady College Assistantship in 2006. After graduating she took a position as an Assistant Account Executive at Mastermind Marketing in Atlanta.
"I began working at UGA Press before classes even began when I moved to Athens for graduate school. It turned out to be one of the very best parts of being here! I got to learn first-hand about book publishing while working with a truly wonderful group of people. My experience with the marketing, sales and publicity aspects of publishing perfectly complemented my graduate degree in journalism and mass communication. I am so fortunate to have spent almost a year and a half at the Press, learning from talented professionals while enhancing my graduate school experience and boosting my marketing aptitude. I wouldn't trade my time at the UGA Press for anything!" |
