Readers. Although our review process does require outside readers, a reader must have strong qualifications—usually a Ph.D. plus several years of research—in the specific subject area of a manuscript. We do not employ general readers.Copyeditors. We use freelance copyeditors on most of our books. At present we have a backlog of qualified candidates, but resumes submitted to the managing editor will be kept on file for consideration when we need to expand our pool. Previous experience electronically copyediting scholarly books is strongly preferred. Please indicate any special subject-area expertise that corresponds to our publishing program.
Proofreaders. Prospective proofreaders must pass a test at the Press offices in Athens. We are not currently hiring new proofreaders, but if you would like to be placed on a waiting list for testing, please contact project editor Jon Davies.
Indexers. Most of our authors prepare their own indexes. Authors who wish to engage the services of a professional indexer are referred to the Indexer Locator on the web site of the American Society of Indexers.
